Croatian and Serbian presidents had planned to partition Bosnia between themselves, attempting to carve out their own enclaves. The Serbian minority took the offensive and laid siege and began the it's ruthless campaigns of ethnic cleansing, which involved the expulsion or massacre of Muslims. Croatia also tried to take communities and land for themselves. By the end of August 1992 the Bosnian Serbs had conquered about 60% of Bosnia. The war was extremely one sided until NATO stepped in, they bombed the Serbs strong positions in Bosnia, between August and September 1995. Serbs had entered UN safe zones of Tuzla, Zepa, and Srebrenica, where they had murdered thousands. By the end of 1995 there had been roughly 250 000 deaths in Bosnia.
